The settlements of Mergulhão and Muricy are located 28 km from Curitiba, in the town of São José dos Pinhais. European immigrants settled here in the end of the 19th century and began to cultivate small farms. The Italians stayed mainly at Mergulhão and the Polish at Muricy. Today, visitors can enjoy the Wine Route and spend a nice afternoon during weekends buying local wine, cheese, salami, jams and vegetables directly from the producers. The traditional “café colonial” is also a “must-do” in the place – restaurants serving different pies (salty and sweet), bread sorts, jams, cheese, salame, coffee, tea, juices for a fixed price. You will also have the chance to buy local handcrafts. The wine produced in Caminho do Vinho is simple, produced with old techniques brought with the immigrants from Europe.
