Description: The tour starts out from Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt heading to Pargua, a small Chilean village in the Calbuco district, located on the northern bank of the Chacao canal and where the so-called “orderly coast” of Chile ends, giving way to the archipelagos. After crossing the Chacao Canal visitors reach the Isla Grande (Greater Island) of Chiloe. The route continues towards the interior coast to visit Quemchi, where one of the 16 wooden churches of the Chiloe Archipelago that have been declared UNESCO Heritage Sites lies. The area’s architecture, the church and the impressive 500 meter (1,640 ft.) bridge joining Aucar isle with the Island of Chiloe are must visits. The tour continues to Colo with its famed church, one of the most rustic among the UNESCO Heritage Site churches. A visit to Tenaun follows, that offers a unique assortment of houses, some built in a neo-colonial style with German influence and others covered over with larch tiles. One of the most colorful churches of the island is found here, named Nuestra Señora del Patrocinio, declared a National Monument. The trip ends in Dalcahue, where the Plaza de Armas square, the local church and palafitte market are visited.
