Description: This cycling tour starts out at the hotel in San Pedro de Atacama and heads to Valle de la Luna that forms part of the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt Mountain Range). Riders take the main road until their first stop at Las Tres Marias (the three Maries) that are rock formations sculpted by the salt and wind. The excursion continues to the so-called Amphitheatre, a rocky oval formation resembling a Roman theatre. Further ahead is the large dune, the highest in the area and an ideal site for great sunset pictures. Next, the ride continues to Cavernas de Sal (salt caves) going through the caves covered with pieces of gem-like crystals made of salt, formed by the high environmental pressure and lack of humidity. After four hours of cycling, riders return by car to the hotel in San Pedro. Light clothing and sun blocker are recommended.
