Located in Barva de Heredia, Café Britt Coffee Tour has shared with thousands of guests its expertise and passion for Costa Rican coffee, with this original and enjoyable journey through the world of gourmet coffee. The visit begins in the nursery showing the growing cycle, careful collection and selection of the beans. Here the visitors learn how Costa Rica’s unique climate and diverse landscapes provide perfect growing conditions for gourmet coffee beans. Next they follow the irresistible aromas coming from the roaster where they will discover how the different roasting techniques may affect the beans and the brew. They will also find out about the packing secrets enabling an optimum preservation of freshness to deliver the best coffee from the Costa Rican plantation to the cup – anywhere in the world! They learn how experts “break the cup” by using different techniques to taste or “cup” coffee to identify and grade the characteristics of a gourmet coffee. Finally, everyone enjoys an original and entertained skit about the history of the golden bean and its decisive role in the economic and social development of the country.
