After your arrival in Cusco; you will meet your guide and begin your drive towards Chinchero, a small picturesque Andean village. Enter the home of a textile artisan, where you will see some of his original work and learn about his techniques, as well as his creative process. Then visit its significant Inca ruins dating from the end of the 15th Century, as well as a beautiful traditional church. Afterwards, on the road to Ollantaytambo, you will stop at a viewpoint, for one of the best views of the Sacred Valley. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Then it is on to Ollantaytambo, one of the most representative building complexes of the Inca Empire and site of one of the Spanish Conquistadors’ rare strategic defeats. Famous for its terraced fields, Ollantaytambo was a very effective fortress and also a religious center.

MORNING VISIT TO MARAS SALT MINES & MORAY TERRACES
You will leave your hotel and head to Moray, an Inca archeological site famous for its impressive concentric terraces. There, you will have a guided tour to learn all about these fascinating ruins. Then, you will continue towards Maras, ancestral salt mines where, until today, the finest salt in the world is extracted. The area looks like a mosaic of terraces and ponds, offering an unparalleled view to those who love to take amazing photographs. Finally, you will be taken back to your hotel around noon so you can take advantage of the hotel facilities. We strongly recommend to use the indoor pool and relax during the afternoon

A visit to one of the most important tourist destinations in the world: Machu Picchu. The excursion starts with a train trip to the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. The natural beauty of the surroundings makes the train the best way to start your visit. When you arrive, you will start the ascent to the ruins, which will without a doubt be one of your most unforgettable experiences. At Machu Picchu you can see one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World and take some impressive photos. Lunch not included.
Finally, you return to Aguas Calientes, board the train for the return journey

MORNING EXPLORING THE CITY AND NEARBY INCA SITES (Private services)
You will visit the city of Cusco, known as the Imperial City and declared a World Heritage Site b y UNESCO. Continue to Koricancha Temple, an ancient Inca palace and cult center of the Sun God, above which the order of the Dominicans built a church, which remains standing to this day. You will continue ascending to the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, an impressive example of Inca military architecture. Afterwards, you will explore Q’enqo archeological site, where important Inca ceremonies took place. Finally, you will arrive to the Plaza de Armas (main square), where you will visit the Cathedral, the most important temple in the city. We will close the tour with a visit to the San Blas neighborhood, famous for its artisans.

18PM EVENING ANDEAN COSMOVISION AT THE PLANETARIUM OF CUSCO – OPTIONAL

You will live a one-of-a-kind experience at the Planetarium Cusco -located 15 minutes from the city- where you will learn about the important relationship between the Andean man and the cosmos. Thanks to special equipment, a starry sky and constellation drawings will be projected, which will allow you to see the wonders of the universe up close. Finally, you will go to the exterior of the Planetarium where, if weather allows it, you will be able to witness “the oldest show in the world”, observing stars and constellations through telescopes and other astronomical observation instruments.
